| Matthew Plexman Master Photographer, Partner What drives Matthew Plexman? Prototypically Canadian, with almost no ego, he loves spending time outdoors – the colder, the better. He’s forever dreaming of his next trip to the Yukon, and never turns down a frosty microbrew. But cut to his core, and you find but one focus: photography. It began innocently enough: age 12, on a family camping trip, his father hands him a plastic Diana camera and two rolls of film. Since then, his work has been recognized internationally, with clients, ranging from admen to designers and marketers, describing his work using the same words. Luminous. Balanced. Fresh. Pictures that spur you to remark, “We’ve never looked better.” How does he do it? Two ways, really. First, he doesn’t posture; making his client feel at ease, whether a CEO or a group of preschoolers, is his nature. It’s also a tool he uses, which, like his lenses and cameras and lights, has helped him develop what has become one of Toronto’s most esteemed and established photography studios. Products and props, models and clients, hotels and hoteliers, bankers and banks–all have found themselves within Plexman’s lens. And they’ve never looked better. |
